Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has shared positive news for the state’s citizens, particularly providing a sigh of relief for middle-class families regarding electricity costs. During his visit to Pamidimukkala in Krishna district on Friday, the Chief Minister participated in the “Service to the Poor” program. He made a significant commitment that the government would not increase power tariffs by even a single paisa until the next general elections, honoring the promises made during his previous campaign.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister criticized the previous YSRCP administration for allegedly burdening the public by raising electricity charges nine times during their tenure. He highlighted that the current alliance government is focused on rectifying the energy sector through strategic reforms. Naidu emphasized that they have successfully transitioned from the “True-Up” charges, which were a burden under the previous government, to “True-Down” measures, effectively providing financial liberation to the consumers.
Further supporting these claims, it was noted that the state government has already implemented a reduction of 13 paise per unit. Minister for Energy, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, echoed the Chief Minister’s sentiments, stating that while the previous government caused significant losses to the electricity system, the current administration is working tirelessly to ensure the delivery of high-quality, uninterrupted power without adding any additional financial strain on the people of Andhra Pradesh.
