SRH Secures Under-19 Star: RS Ambrish Joins as Replacement for Injured Shivam Mavi

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), currently riding high with consecutive victories in the 19th season of the IPL, has announced a significant squad update. Young all-rounder RS Ambrish has been officially recruited to replace pacer Shivam Mavi, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to injury. The IPL committee confirmed on Friday that Ambrish was acquired by the “Orange Army” for a base price of ₹30 lakh.

The Exit of Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi has been battling a persistent groin injury, and it has now been confirmed that he will not be available for the rest of the season. To fill the void left by the experienced pacer, the team management has opted for fresh talent. This move is part of SRH’s broader strategy to maintain their winning momentum by integrating young, high-performing players into the squad during the crucial middle phase of the league.

Who is RS Ambrish?

A rising star from Chennai, Ambrish gained national attention following his stellar performance in the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup:

  • All-Round Versatility: He is a right-arm medium pacer who can also contribute significantly with the bat as a left-handed hitter.

  • Proven Track Record: He played a pivotal role in India’s Under-19 World Cup success, emerging as the team’s leading wicket-taker with 11 dismissals.

Navigating Injury Challenges

Sunrisers Hyderabad has dealt with several injury setbacks this season, leading to a series of strategic replacements to keep their bowling attack robust. Previously, Gerald Coetzee was brought in following David Payne’s departure (who had replaced Jack Edwards), and Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka joined the ranks after Brydon Carse was sidelined. Despite these hurdles, SRH is dominating the field with five straight wins, currently holding the third spot on the points table. They are set to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Uppal Stadium this Sunday, May 3.
