JLR India Slashes Range Rover SV Prices by ₹75 Lakh Ahead of India-UK Free Trade Agreement

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has announced a massive price reduction for its flagship imported models, cutting prices by up to ₹75 lakh. This strategic move comes in anticipation of the upcoming India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is expected to lower import duties on vehicles brought into India as Completely Built Units (CBUs). By implementing these cuts immediately, JLR India aims to pass on the projected tax benefits to high-end customers even before the deal is officially ratified.

The most significant price revision is seen in the ultra-luxury Range Rover SV, which has seen its ex-showroom price drop from ₹4.25 crore to ₹3.5 crore. Similarly, the Range Rover Sport SV has been reduced by ₹40 lakh, now starting at ₹2.35 crore. Managing Director Rajan Amba stated that this proactive pricing strategy reinforces the brand’s “customer-first” approach and is designed to make their most aspirational “Special Vehicle” (SV) portfolio more accessible to the elite luxury segment in India.

However, the company clarified that these price benefits apply strictly to models imported directly from the UK. Prices for locally manufactured models, such as the Range Rover Velar, Evoque, and Discovery Sport, will remain unchanged as they are not subject to the same import duty structures. Furthermore, models like the Defender and Discovery, which are produced in Slovakia rather than the UK, do not fall under the scope of the India-UK FTA and will continue with their existing price tags.
