Widespread Rain and Hail Bring Respite from Sweltering Heat:
Providing a major relief to citizens struggling with scorching summer temperatures, widespread moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by severe thunderstorms and lightning lashed several parts of Telangana on Monday evening. In the capital city of Hyderabad, areas such as Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, and Pedda Amberpet witnessed a sudden and pleasant drop in temperature. Meanwhile, Ghatkesar experienced a heavy hailstorm, and steady downpours were reported across Medak and Suryapet districts, offering a much-needed break from the intense heatwave.
Strong Winds Cause Destruction and Traffic Disruption:
While the rain brought cooler weather, the accompanying high-velocity winds caused significant structural damage and logistical issues in multiple rural and urban pockets. In the Narmetta mandal of Jangaon district, fierce gales ripped off metal roofing sheets from several houses, while massive trees and electricity poles were uprooted, snapping power supply lines. Similarly, in Medak town, uprooted trees fell across major thoroughfares, creating massive traffic snarls and leaving commuters stranded for hours.
Unseasonal Rains Hit Farmers Hard as Paddy Stocks Get Drenched:
The unseasonal weather has turned into a nightmare for the farming community, which is already dealing with slow grain procurement across the state. Thousands of freshly harvested paddy bags, stacked out in the open at various market yards and IKP (Integrated Kraft Paper) procurement centers in Medak and other districts, were completely drenched in the rainwater. Helplessly watching their hard-earned produce get soaked right before procurement, distressed farmers expressed deep anxiety over potential crop damage and the risk of losing out on minimum support prices.
