Women Empowerment 2034: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Pledges to Turn 1 Crore Women into Millionaires

Ambitious Target to Create Women Millionaires:

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a mega welfare roadmap aimed at achieving complete financial independence for women across the state. Virtually laying the foundation stones for 8,000 Self-Help Group (SHG) village federation buildings, the Chief Minister declared that his cabinet has taken up the solemn responsibility of transforming one crore (10 million) women into millionaires by the year 2034. Taking a sharp swipe at political opponents over family property disputes, Reddy stressed that while biological brothers are sometimes driving sisters away from their homes over wealth shares, his government treats every woman in Telangana as their own sister and is laying out a bulletproof plan to stabilize them economically.

Transforming Commuters into Bus Owners:

Highlighting the roaring success of the Mahalakshmi free bus travel scheme for women, the Chief Minister shared that the state treasury has already reimbursed over ₹10,000 crore to the TSRTC within just 29 months. To elevate women from mere passengers to commercial owners, the government has crafted an innovative blueprint where women’s cooperative groups will buy 1,000 buses and lease them back to the RTC for a fixed monthly rental of ₹70,000 per bus. As the first phase of this rollout, 553 buses have been readied, and the cabinet is planning a massive launch event involving a mandal-wise distribution at the Parade Grounds on the evening of June 5.

Massive Financial Injections and Business Assets:

To further diversify women-led business enterprises, the government announced an immediate doubling of interest-free bank linkage loan limits from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh, having already facilitated a massive ₹60,472 crore in bank linkages. Chief Minister Reddy called upon women’s groups to aggressively expand into lucrative business sectors such as operating district petrol bunks—which are currently yielding monthly profits of ₹4-5 lakh—managing a proposed 1,000 MW solar power project, and setting up “Mahila Shakti Super Bazaars” backed by state corpus funds. He also directed Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to lease urban lands at nominal prices for 30 years so women can establish rice mills and cold storage godowns, effectively troubleshooting the grain logistics and transportation bottlenecks faced at rural procurement centers.
