The Congress-led Telangana government has delivered positive news to its state government employees by officially releasing the first installment of long-pending arrears. Previously, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had given a definitive commitment to the Employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) that ₹6,000 crore of prolonged arrears would be released within a tight timeframe of 100 days.
In line with this commitment, under the directive of Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Principal Secretary of Finance Sandeep Kumar Sultaniya issued official orders releasing ₹2,000 crore in the first phase. This newly released fund has been fully utilized to clear critical pending dues specifically owed to retired government employees. Following this development, all pending dues concerning the General Provident Fund (GPF) for retired staff have been successfully cleared. Furthermore, pending commutation dues for retired employees up until May 2025 have also been completely resolved.
The Telangana government emphasized that this milestone was achieved due to meticulous forward planning and strict operational execution. The administration further revealed that it is actively working to credit the remaining ₹4,000 crore of arrears into employee accounts well within the stipulated deadline. Expressing their immense satisfaction, various employee unions and retired staff organizations have welcomed the move, stating that the rapid decision-making demonstrates the government’s genuine concern for employee welfare.
