Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, has demanded that Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief, Pawan Kalyan, apologize to the people of Telangana before holding any public meetings in the state. Clarifying the government’s stance, the minister stated that they are not stopping Pawan Kalyan from traveling across Telangana. However, he raised strong objections to the actor-politician’s attempt to organize a political rally in Hyderabad specifically on Telangana Formation Day, a highly emotional and significant day for the state.
Jana Sena had initially planned to host the ‘Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha’ at Gachibowli in Hyderabad. However, citing law and order concerns, the police department denied permission for the large-scale gathering, prompting Pawan Kalyan to hold a press conference at his Jubilee Hills residence instead. Criticizing these developments, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar slammed Pawan Kalyan, labeling him a “paid artist” and questioning whether his sudden political activity is being driven by an underlying agenda of external political parties like the BJP.
The minister reminded everyone that the Telangana government had extended proper protocol and a warm welcome to Pawan Kalyan during his state visit four months ago. While reiterating that the state welcomes citizens from Andhra Pradesh and respects democratic movement, Ponnam Prabhakar warned that actions undermining the self-respect of Telangana’s people would not be tolerated. He concluded by demanding an apology from the Jana Sena leader for his historical opposition to the formation of Telangana as well as his recent remarks concerning the late folk singer Gaddar.
