The youth of the nation have raised their voice against multiple severe issues plaguing the country’s education system. The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), which has created a massive storm on social media, staged its first ever large-scale on-ground protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke sharply remarked, “We have come here in person today as a direct answer to those who mocked us by saying cockroaches cannot take to the streets.”
The protest was organized to voice dissent against the recent NEET-UG paper leak and severe discrepancies found in the CBSE Class 12 results. Protesters strongly demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him accountable for the series of systemic failures in the education domain. Students, competitive exam aspirants, and their parents traveled from various parts of the country to join the agitation, with prominent socio-environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk also participating to extend his support.
This unique political outfit emerged as a satirical response to a recent comment by Supreme Court judge Justice Surya Kant, who reportedly referred to a section of the youth as ‘cockroaches’ and ‘parasites’. Abhijit Dipke, an alumnus of Boston University, channeled the underlying frustration and unemployment anxiety of the youth into a digital movement that has now successfully transformed into a grassroots struggle. To prevent any untoward incidents, the Delhi Police deployed a heavy security force of over a thousand personnel and took six individuals into preventive custody.
