Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure that Indiramma housing projects under the Core Urban Region Expansion (CURE) limits are constructed within existing residential areas. During a review meeting with senior officials on Friday, the Chief Minister stressed that the houses should be located close to populated areas so that beneficiaries have easy access to employment opportunities and essential services.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to identify unused government land belonging to various departments within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. Officials presented details of vacant land already identified in several constituencies. Revanth Reddy directed them to utilize unused land belonging to the Police, Revenue, and Transport departments for the housing project, while allocating alternative land to those departments wherever necessary.
Expressing concern over the allocation of houses in remote locations, the Chief Minister said such a move could deprive beneficiaries of employment and livelihood opportunities, eventually rendering the housing colonies underutilized. He emphasized that Indiramma houses should be built near workplaces and within established residential areas to ensure that economically weaker families can continue their livelihoods while enjoying better access to urban infrastructure and public services.
