A bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims back from the annual pilgrimage met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, leaving 39 passengers injured, officials said. The incident occurred near Kangan when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a sharp bend.
According to officials, the bus veered off the road and crashed into a nearby house. Fortunately, no one was inside the house at the time of the accident, preventing a major tragedy. Authorities said the house also acted as a barrier, stopping the bus from plunging into the nearby Sindh River, which could have resulted in significant loss of life.
Following the accident, local residents and rescue teams rushed the injured pilgrims to nearby hospitals for treatment. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the rescue operations with senior officials and directed them to ensure the injured pilgrims receive the best possible medical care. He also expressed his concern over the incident through a social media post.
