Andhra Pradesh Revises Building Rules to Simplify Construction Approval Process

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a final notification introducing significant amendments to the AP Building Rules, 2017. Released by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department on July 29, 2026, the revised regulations align with the Central Government’s deregulation guidelines, incorporating changes across 23 priority areas and five additional key provisions.

According to the government, the primary objective of these amendments is to simplify the building approval process, implement risk-based regulatory mechanisms, and improve the ease of doing business in the state. The revised rules are expected to reduce procedural hurdles while making construction approvals more efficient and transparent.

The updated framework also places strong emphasis on promoting environmentally sustainable construction practices and creating an investment-friendly ecosystem. Officials believe the reforms will encourage faster urban development while ensuring modern, streamlined governance in the building and construction sector.
