Schools across Telangana, including Hyderabad, will remain closed on August 26 as the state government has announced a holiday to mark Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. The occasion is observed by Muslims with religious significance and is recognised as a public holiday in several countries.
Telangana will also observe other holidays in August, including Varalakshmi Vratham on August 21 and Shravana Purnima, or Rakhi Purnima, on August 28. These two occasions have been listed as optional holidays by the state government.
The announcement of the August 26 holiday has been welcomed by students and teachers across the state. Schools will resume their regular academic schedule after the holiday, while families are expected to observe Milad-un-Nabi according to their traditions.
