The Election Commission has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi, with the final voter list now scheduled to be published on November 4 instead of October 27. Officials said the revision was required mainly to facilitate the rationalisation of polling stations across the national capital.
Under the revised timetable, the draft electoral rolls will be published on August 31, replacing the earlier date of August 24. Voters whose names are missing from the draft list can file claims and objections between August 31 and September 30. The period for disposing of these claims and objections has also been extended, with officials now given time until October 29.
This is the third revision of Delhi’s SIR schedule since the exercise began with door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms on June 30. Election officials said the changes were necessitated by the rationalisation of polling stations, with the Election Commission directing that each polling station should have a maximum of 1,200 electors.
