A fatal road accident occurred near the Dukkavanipalem Toll Plaza in Anandapuram on Wednesday at around 10:15 AM. A car bearing registration number AP 40 MF 8564 was travelling from Vizianagaram to Simhachalam for a wedding when the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle lost control, hit the road divider and then crashed into a parked truck/container bearing registration number KA 51 AG 9147.
The driver, Kona Ravi Kishore (36), a resident of Boddavalasa village in Denkada mandal of Vizianagaram district, sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Five other passengers in the car—Rauthu Varalamma, Kona Varalamma, Rauthu Durga, Kurumunji Varalakshmi and Bantupalli Lakshmi—suffered minor injuries in the accident.
On receiving information, Anandapuram police reached the spot and shifted Ravi Kishore’s body to the Bheemunipatnam Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
