Two suspects were detained from the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026 at the Jio World Centre. Modi is also expected to address the event. The detention ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit has raised concerns over security arrangements in the area.
According to reports, one of the suspects allegedly claimed to be an official from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Authorities reportedly recovered a fake ID card linked to the PMO from his possession. During security checks, the identification card was found to be fake, following which the suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
The second suspect was reportedly found carrying a firearm and was also detained by the authorities. Security agencies have intensified checks in and around the BKC area ahead of PM Modi’s programme. Further details regarding the suspects’ identities and their possible motives are awaited.
