Markapur District Collector M. Vijaya Sunitha on Tuesday unveiled the CD of the song “Velugonda Jaladhara – Velugula Jaladhara” at the local Collectorate. The song was written by Dola Shyamala Devi, a physical education teacher at the Zilla Parishad Boys’ High School in Markapur. The song reflects the importance of the Velugonda Project, the hopes of the people of Markapur and the aspirations of farmers for a better future.
The song was created with the aspiration that the waters from the Velugonda Project would bring more than irrigation to the region. It aims to portray the project’s waters as a source of confidence for farmers, hope for the people, development for the Markapur region and a prosperous future for generations to come.
On the occasion, Collector M. Vijaya Sunitha specially congratulated Shyamala Devi for her efforts in creating the song. Physical education teachers from the Zilla Parishad Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools, along with others, participated in the CD launch programme.
