In a significant development in the Palnadu district Gundlapadu double murder case, Venkata Rami Reddy, the brother of former Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and accused No. A8 in the case, surrendered before a local court in Palnadu on Monday. His decision to surrender comes two days after the Supreme Court canceled the anticipatory bail granted to the Pinnelli brothers by the High Court and ordered them to surrender to the police within two weeks.
Surrender and Court Proceedings
Venkata Rami Reddy appeared alone before the court on Monday afternoon and informed the judge of his surrender. While stating that he had no involvement in the double murder, he assured the court that he would fully cooperate with the investigation. Following the submission, the court directed the police to take him into custody. However, the prime accused in the case, former MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, is yet to surrender, though he is mandated to do so within the deadline set by the Supreme Court.
Background of the Case
The Gundlapadu double murder case involves the killing of two brothers belonging to the TDP in Veludurthi Mandal in May of this year. The police had registered cases against a total of ten individuals, including the Pinnelli brothers (A8 and A9). With Venkata Rami Reddy’s surrender, the investigation into the high-profile case is expected to gain momentum, while speculation remains rife about the whereabouts of former MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, who is rumored to be in Hyderabad or Bengaluru.
