New Regulations for Tirumala Srivari Darshan from May 1: TTD Prioritizes Common Pilgrims for Summer Rush

Restrictions on VIP Darshan to Ease Crowds

As the summer vacation season approaches, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) expects a massive surge in pilgrim footfall starting in May. To ensure that common devotees can have a quicker and smoother darshan, TTD has announced significant changes to the pilgrimage rules effective from May 1, 2026. The most notable decision is the complete cancellation of VIP Break Darshan based on recommendation letters. During this period, only protocol VIPs who visit in person will be granted the privileged darshan facility, allowing for more time to be allocated to the general queue lines.

Expanded Access for General Pilgrims

The time saved by restricting recommendation letters will be redirected to the “Sarva Darshan” (free darshan) category to reduce waiting times for ordinary pilgrims. While the ₹300 Special Entry Darshan, Arjitha Sevas, and dedicated slots for senior citizens and parents with infants will continue as scheduled, TTD is implementing a more robust queue management system. This system is designed to accommodate pilgrims who arrive without advance tokens, ensuring they are integrated into the lines systematically to prevent overcrowding and long delays.

Enhanced Summer Facilities and Heat Protection

To protect devotees from the intense summer heat on the Tirumala hills, TTD has established extensive cooling measures and infrastructure. Large German sheds and zigzag queue lines have been erected from the Gangamma Temple to the Bata Gangamma area to provide shade. Additionally, cool paint has been applied to the roads, and green mats have been laid around the temple and laddu counters to prevent foot burns. Under the “Jala Prasadam” initiative, TTD volunteers (Srivari Sevakulu) will provide a continuous supply of cold drinking water to pilgrims waiting in the queue sheds.
