DMK Chief Stalin Concedes Defeat with Dignity; Highlights Narrow 3.52% Vote Gap with Vijay’s TVK

In his first major response following the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results, outgoing Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin addressed his supporters via X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that the margin of defeat was remarkably slim. Without explicitly naming Thalapathy Vijay’s party, TVK, Stalin revealed that the DMK-led alliance secured a staggering 1.54 crore votes (). He pointed out that the difference between the DMK and the winning TVK was only 17.43 lakh votes, representing a narrow vote share gap of just 3.52%.

Stalin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the millions of voters who stood by the DMK, asserting that every single vote is a testament to the people’s enduring trust in Dravidian ideology. He reminded party cadres that the DMK has seen numerous victories and setbacks throughout its history, having held power six times in the state. He stated that while the party may have lost the seat of power, it remains undefeated in its commitment to public service and its core principles of social justice, language protection, and regional pride.

Looking ahead, Stalin announced that the DMK would now take on the role of a “constructive opposition,” dedicated to fighting for people’s issues on the streets and in the assembly. He urged winning candidates to go directly to the people to thank them, reinforcing that the party exists solely for the welfare of the public. Invoking the legacies of Periyar and Karunanidhi, he vowed that the Dravidian movement would continue its journey with renewed vigor and expressed full confidence that the DMK would eventually reclaim its mandate in the future.
