Policy Breakthrough: Left Parties Applaud Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Over Minimum Wage Revision

Left Delegations Commend Minimum Wage Hike:

Leaders of the prominent Left parties extended their heartfelt gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for taking the historic decision to increase the minimum wages for workers, a demand that had been pending for a long time. High-level delegations from the CPM and CPI met the Chief Minister in separate scheduled sessions at the State Secretariat. The meetings were spearheaded by CPM State Secretary John Wesley and CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, where they brainstormed several state-level socio-economic issues, ranging from ongoing paddy procurement to educational reforms.

Defending Paddy Procurement and Addressing Labor Crunch:

During the discussions, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticized the central government, stating that it merely increases the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on paper but fails to execute actual grain procurement. He assured the Left leaders that the Telangana government is committed to buying every single grain produced by local farmers. Addressing the current delays in procurement, the CM clarified that a temporary shortage of hamalis (loading laborers) occurred because many had traveled back to their hometowns in West Bengal due to the ongoing legislative assembly elections. He added that extreme heatwaves have halted afternoon operations, but reiterated that the government is successfully dispensing a ₹500 bonus for fine paddy varieties and buying maize at full MSP.

Musi River Resettlement and Academic Overhaul:

Turning the focus toward urban infrastructure, the Chief Minister urged political entities not to politicize the Musi River rejuvenation project. He reassured displaced families that they need not panic, as the government guarantees the allocation of new residential houses locally. Reddy emphasized that clearing the Musi pollution is a matter of life and death for the downstream residents of Nalgonda district, and his administration plans to revive the riverfront into a world-class tourism hub. Furthermore, the CM mapped out his comprehensive plan to overhaul the public education system, detailing the progressive measures being implemented to strengthen state-run educational institutions.
