The Petbasheerabad police intensified their investigation into the POCSO case involving the accused, Bandi Bhagirath, by conducting a crime scene reconstruction at the Aranya Farmhouse located in Moinabad mandal. Following a local court’s approval granting a three-day police custody, the investigative team arrived at the Cherlapally Central Prison early in the morning to officially take custody of Bhagirath, who had been held there on remand since his arrest on May 16.
The case heavily relies on the detailed statements recorded by the minor victim and her mother. According to the official police complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the heinous incident transpired at the Aranya Farmhouse, where her daughter was allegedly pressured into consuming alcohol before the accused and his associates misbehaved and assaulted her. To gather precise forensic and circumstantial evidence corroborating the victim’s version of events, the police escorted Bhagirath to the specific locations within the farmhouse layout to mathematically chart out the timeline and re-enact the sequence of the crime.
Prior to the scene reconstruction, the Petbasheerabad police had already rounded up and extensively interrogated four friends of Bandi Bhagirath who were reportedly present at the venue or linked to the events of that evening. Officials stated that cross-examining the accused at the actual spot of the incident is crucial for bridging gaps in the statements given by the suspects. With the Malkajgiri court granting three days of custody, the police are using this period to consolidate their charge sheet with foolproof physical and digital evidence before Bhagirath is sent back to judicial remand.
