Siddaramaiah Resigns as Karnataka CM, Submits Letter to Governor’s Secretary, and Heads to Delhi

Siddaramaiah has officially resigned from his post as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. He visited the Raj Bhavan accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and several other cabinet ministers to tender his resignation. Since Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot was unavailable at the time, Siddaramaiah submitted his official resignation letter directly to the Governor’s secretary. He stated that he took this step following explicit directives from the Congress party high command.

Following the submission, Siddaramaiah held a press conference where he confirmed his resignation and announced that D.K. Shivakumar would be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. Becoming visibly emotional, he reflected on his political journey from the grassroots level up to the state’s highest office, asserting that his focus has always been the welfare of the people. He highlighted his administration’s governance track record, noting that out of the 160 electoral guarantees promised to the citizens, 158 were successfully implemented under his leadership.

Expressing absolute confidence in the stability of the state leadership, Siddaramaiah reminded the public that the Congress party holds a complete majority in the Karnataka Assembly, paving the way for a smooth, constitutional transition of power. He extended his gratitude to party workers, as well as senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi. Later in the evening, Siddaramaiah scheduled a visit to Delhi to meet with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to discuss future plans, reaffirming his readiness to loyally accept any new organizational responsibility assigned by the high command.
