“We Wear Makeup for Movies, We Don’t Change Colors in Real Life”: ‘Peddi’ Actor Shivanna’s Candid Comments on Politics

The connection between the film industry and politics in South India has always been deeply intertwined, stretching from the iconic eras of NTR and MGR to the recent historic rise of Kollywood superstar Joseph Vijay as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. This massive political shift has triggered widespread speculation regarding the entry of other top cinema stars into the political arena. Amid these discussions, Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar (affectionately known as Shivanna) has firmly addressed rumors surrounding his own political entry while sharing significant views on fellow actor Upendra’s potential journey.

While promoting his upcoming film ‘Peddi’, which stars Ram Charan in the lead and features Shiva Rajkumar in a pivotal role, the veteran actor made it clear that he has absolutely no interest in entering active politics. “We apply makeup and color only for our faces in front of the camera, but we remain absolutely clear and transparent when it comes to the public,” Shivanna remarked. He emphasized that his family has consistently been involved in philanthropy and public service without feeling the need to publicize or seek political validation for their good deeds, stating that true service is recognized by the hearts of the people rather than newspaper headlines.

Turning his focus toward the political landscape of Karnataka, Shiva Rajkumar expressed strong support for real-life political aspirations within the Kannada industry. Commenting on actor Upendra’s political platform, Shivanna noted that if Upendra remains actively engaged, it bodes well for the state. Drawing a parallel to neighboring Tamil Nadu, he questioned, “If Vijay can become the Chief Minister with the absolute support of the Tamil people, why shouldn’t Upendra achieve the same milestone in Karnataka?” He added that honesty and dedication in public service are eventually recognized and rewarded by the divine.

Expressing his happiness over Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s definitive electoral victory, Shivanna recalled how deeply Vijay’s political speeches resonated with him, inspiring immense confidence that a positive societal change was on the horizon. Currently, Shiva Rajkumar is focusing entirely on his cinematic commitments, with ‘Peddi’ slated for a grand global theatrical release on June 4. Refusing to switch real-life colors for political gain, the actor stated that his greatest satisfaction comes from knowing his fans are inspired by him to help those in need.
