Superstar Rajinikanth has put an end to ongoing social media rumors suggesting he is jealous of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s sudden political success in Tamil Nadu. Expressing his dissatisfaction with critics who constantly try to smear his reputation, the 76-year-old veteran actor remarked, “Whether I speak, it becomes a controversy; if I remain silent, it draws criticism.” Rajinikanth, who historically influenced Tamil Nadu politics with a single statement back in 1996, dismissed the gossip regarding Vijay’s rise and offered his perspective on navigating current political public perceptions.
Addressing the continuous allegations, Rajinikanth shared that he frequently hesitates to speak publicly because his words are often twisted into controversies that cause issues for both himself and others. Conversely, if he chooses to stay quiet, critics question his silence, and if he speaks up later, they complain that he should have remained silent in the first place. He further reflected that those who dislike someone will never appreciate their actions, adding that it is foolish to assume public affection remains permanent, which is why individuals in public life must step very carefully.
This public clarification comes in the wake of Vijay’s historic political debut in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections held in April and May. Vijay’s political party, the TVK, emerged as the single largest party by capturing an impressive 108 out of 234 assembly seats. Following the election results, Vijay formed a new alliance with the Congress and other regional parties to establish the government, subsequently taking the oath as Chief Minister. Since assuming office, CM Vijay has been making waves with sensational administrative decisions, drawing both widespread attention and political scrutiny from opposition leaders like MK Stalin and Annamalai.
