Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao threw an open challenge to BRS leaders to debate the state’s debt figures, announcing that he would be present at the Somajiguda Press Club at 5 PM for the discussion. He declared that he would resign from his ministerial post if the debt figures presented by him were proven incorrect and questioned whether BRS leaders would be willing to do the same if their claims were found to be false.
The minister challenged BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), and Harish Rao to participate in the debate. He said that if KCR was unable to attend, another party representative should come forward and prove that his debt calculations were wrong. Jupally asserted that he had never backed away from a challenge and maintained that the figures he presented were based on facts.
Criticizing the opposition, Jupally alleged that BRS leaders had failed to present a clear account of Telangana’s debt in the Assembly and had offered conflicting figures ranging from ₹3.17 lakh crore to over ₹8 lakh crore. He questioned why loans raised through government corporations were not being disclosed and reiterated that he would resign as both minister and MLA if his figures were disproved. He also said he had entered politics only after establishing himself in business and rejected allegations made against him.
