At least 40 people were killed and eight others injured after a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in the Danasar area along the Sherani–Zhob highway near the border of Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces on Friday. The bus was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar with 48 passengers on board when the accident occurred.
Rescue teams, including personnel from Rescue 1122 and Emergency Services Balochistan, rushed to the scene and recovered 40 bodies from the wreckage. The injured passengers received first aid at the accident site before being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Zhob and the Trauma Centre for further treatment. Authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations while extending support to the victims’ families.
Officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The tragedy is the latest in a series of deadly road accidents in Pakistan, where poor road conditions, mechanical failures, and reckless driving continue to claim hundreds of lives every year.
