The Andhra Pradesh government is set to issue a new Government Order (GO) on Section 22-A, Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad announced. He said the provision was originally introduced in 2007 to prevent the illegal transfer of government, endowment, assigned, and ceiling surplus lands. The government is now making major changes to the existing system by cancelling old circulars and simplifying the process of removing eligible lands from the 22-A prohibited list, while introducing stricter norms for adding new properties to it.
As part of the reforms, manual entries will be completely prohibited, and the Webland 2.0 database will be synchronized with the IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) database every week. The government will also make the details of all prohibited properties available in the public domain to improve transparency and reduce disputes related to land records.
The minister warned that strict action would be taken against officials who unnecessarily include Gramakantam lands, patta lands, and Village Service Inam lands in the 22-A list. He also stated that legally regularized ULC lands and properties purchased through APSFC auctions would be removed from the prohibited list based on eligibility. Additionally, Sub-Registrars and Revenue officials have been directed to implement court orders related to such lands within five days.
