Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jagan has responded to the controversy surrounding his recent remarks that “people from Chittoor are ruling Bengaluru and Chennai.” He said he sincerely apologizes if his comments hurt anyone’s sentiments and clarified that his intention was only to highlight the success of Telugu people across different parts of the country.
Jagan stated that he never intended to insult any language, community, or state. He explained that his remarks were meant to recognize the achievements of Telugu-speaking people who have excelled in business and other fields in various cities. He also accused his political opponents in Chittoor and Bengaluru of misrepresenting his statement and creating an unnecessary controversy.
The MLA further said that he himself moved from Chittoor to Bengaluru and built his business there, giving him immense respect for the city and the Kannada-speaking people. Reiterating his apology, Jagan said he regrets any misunderstanding caused by his remarks, adding that the issue has now taken a new political turn.
