Heavy inflows from continuous rainfall have significantly increased the water level at the Kadem Project in Telangana’s Nirmal district. With the reservoir level reaching 693.100 feet, irrigation authorities have opened five gates to regulate the inflow and maintain safe water levels.
Officials have lifted gates 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 by eight feet, releasing around 38,140 cusecs of water downstream. The controlled discharge is being carried out as a precautionary measure amid the ongoing heavy inflows into the reservoir.
Authorities have urged residents living in downstream areas to remain alert and exercise caution. Shepherds, fishermen, and others have been advised not to enter the project’s catchment or downstream areas until the flood situation improves, as water levels and discharge may continue to fluctuate.
