Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has announced that all eligible applicants who recently applied for Aasara pensions will receive the benefit on the occasion of Independence Day, August 15. Speaking at a public meeting held in Gudimalla under Edulapuram Municipality in Khammam district, the minister said the Indiramma government remains committed to the welfare of the poor and will ensure that every eligible beneficiary receives financial assistance.
Under the Telangana government’s Aasara scheme, senior citizens, widows, handloom workers, toddy tappers, beedi workers, single women, and AIDS patients currently receive a monthly pension of ₹2,016. Persons with disabilities and those suffering from severe physical ailments receive ₹4,016 per month, while filariasis patients are also provided with a monthly assistance of ₹2,016.
The minister also announced that the government will undertake a comprehensive land survey and issue land ownership documents with digital maps through the Bhu Bharati initiative. He said ineligible passbooks would be cancelled while ensuring justice for deserving beneficiaries. Ponguleti further stated that the approval process for Indiramma housing would begin within the next two to three days and assured that irrigation water would be made available for the upcoming crop season.
