Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged that massive irregularities took place in the Group-1 examinations conducted during the previous YSRCP government. Speaking in the Assembly, he claimed that recruitment was not carried out purely on merit and that rules governing the examination and evaluation process were violated. He said the issue needed to be brought before the public and assured that steps would be taken to prevent such irregularities in the future.
Naidu said the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), established under Article 315 of the Constitution, plays a crucial role in recruiting candidates for government services. He stated that when the Group-1 notification was issued in 2018, around 1.14 lakh candidates applied, with 325 candidates eventually shortlisted. He alleged that violations in the examination process had affected the credibility of government recruitment and discouraged job seekers from approaching public services.
The Chief Minister further claimed that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had directed manual evaluation of Group-1 answer sheets, but the previous government failed to follow the direction. He also alleged that appointments were made through personal interviews despite court directions and that private agencies were engaged for evaluation by bypassing Public Service Commission guidelines. Naidu said his government would take necessary measures to restore transparency and protect the integrity of recruitment examinations.
