Long-Distance EV: Simple Ultra Claims 400km Range for Just ₹2.35 Lakh

The Indian electric vehicle market has reached a new milestone with the launch of the Simple Ultra, a flagship electric scooter designed to eliminate range anxiety for long-distance commuters. Boasting a massive 6.5 kWh battery pack, the scooter offers a claimed IDC (Indian Drive Cycle) range of 400 km on a single charge. This remarkable endurance means a traveler could theoretically ride from Vijayawada to Tirupati (approximately 410 km) with just a minimal top-up or by maintaining efficient speeds, a feat previously unthinkable for standard electric scooters.

Beyond its industry-leading range, the Simple Ultra is a performance powerhouse. It features a top speed of 115 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds, making it one of the fastest EVs in its segment. The scooter is built on the brand’s Gen 2 platform and comes equipped with advanced technology, including a seven-inch touchscreen dashboard, four-level traction control for better grip, and multiple riding modes to balance power and battery efficiency.

For those looking to switch to green energy, the Simple Ultra is priced at ₹2,34,999 (ex-showroom). Depending on the city, the on-road price—including insurance, registration, and local taxes—typically falls between ₹2.48 lakh and ₹2.52 lakh. While the initial investment is higher than entry-level petrol scooters, the company highlights a significantly lower running cost of approximately ₹0.11 per kilometer, offering long-term savings for heavy users who prioritize both performance and the environment.
