In a significant move to bring former left-wing extremists back into the mainstream, the Telangana government has made a crucial decision. Moving away from their life in the forests and integrating them into society, the state government has decided to officially appoint 20 surrendered Maoists as tourism guides.
The government plans to constructively utilize their extensive, first-hand knowledge of the geographical conditions and forest terrains in areas like Bhadrachalam and Mulugu. Recognizing that their deep understanding of forest routes and local specialties will greatly benefit tourists, the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and the Tourism Department jointly conducted a special one-month training program for them. Additionally, they will be provided with a special uniform for their new roles.
The state government believes that true rehabilitation goes beyond providing mere financial aid. By offering dignified employment that perfectly aligns with their unique skill sets and terrain knowledge, the administration hopes this initiative will inspire other active Maoists to surrender and join the mainstream. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will shortly be handing over the official appointment letters to these newly trained guides.
