C.V. Anand Appointed as New Director General of Police for Telangana

Senior IPS officer C.V. Anand has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for the state of Telangana. The state government issued official orders following the retirement of the current DGP, Shivadhar Reddy, who is set to demit office on April 30. The appointment follows the standard procedure where the UPSC recently submitted a shortlist of eligible candidates to the state government for the top police post.

The final panel of names provided by the UPSC included C.V. Anand along with Vinayak Prabhakar Apte and Soumya Mishra, both from the 1994 batch. Being the most senior among the trio, the government selected C.V. Anand for the prestigious role. A 1991-batch officer, Anand brings extensive experience to the position, having previously served in high-profile roles including Commissioner of Police (CP) for Hyderabad and Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Prior to this appointment, C.V. Anand was serving as the Special Chief Secretary to the Government in the Home Department. Known for his administrative acumen and proactive policing strategies, he is now set to lead the state’s police force as the “Police Boss.” He will officially take charge of his new responsibilities as the head of the Telangana Police department starting May 1.
