YSRCP MP Urges Centre’s Intervention in Andhra Pradesh Fuel Crisis

YSR Congress Party MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy has officially requested the Central Government’s urgent intervention regarding the severe shortage of petrol, diesel, and LPG in Andhra Pradesh. In a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Kadapa MP highlighted the immense public distress caused by supply deficiencies and the “unethical” pricing of LPG. He questioned why Andhra Pradesh is experiencing such a glaring mismatch between supply and demand when the Ministry has maintained that national fuel stocks remain adequate across all other states.

According to the MP’s letter, the crisis has paralyzed the state’s fuel infrastructure, with nearly 70% of the 4,510 fuel stations reportedly non-operational or displaying “No Stock” boards. In areas where fuel is still available, strict rationing has been implemented, limiting cars to 10-15 liters of diesel and two-wheelers to just ₹200 worth of petrol. Avinash Reddy pointed out that neighboring states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Maharashtra have reported no such deficits, suggesting that the scarcity in Andhra Pradesh is localized and potentially “artificially created.”

The MP further alleged that the state government is colluding with hoarders instead of providing relief to its citizens, impacting vital sectors such as agriculture, aquaculture, and road transport. Meanwhile, the YSRCP intensified its pressure by staging statewide protests. In Vijayawada, party leader Devineni Avinash led a demonstration by symbolically pulling an auto-rickshaw with a rope, slamming the Chandrababu Naidu administration as “incompetent” for failing to ensure the availability of basic essential commodities like petrol and diesel.
