Congress Leader Sampath Kumar Files Defamation Lawsuit Against KTR and Harish Rao

AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar has officially filed a defamation lawsuit against BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and senior leader T. Harish Rao at the Nampally Court for Representatives. The legal action follows allegations that the BRS leaders orchestrated a smear campaign against him and the Congress party. Sampath Kumar expressed deep distress, stating that the opposition has been using their affiliated media houses and social media platforms to circulate baseless stories aimed at tarnishing his personal and professional reputation.

The core of the dispute involves a specific allegation by the BRS claiming that Sampath Kumar demanded ₹8 crore from a contractor. The Congress leader vehemently denied these claims, labeling them as “cheap political tactics” based on a minor incident from three months ago that was taken out of context. He emphasized that while elected representatives have a legal right to criticize or question the government, they do not have the license to fabricate stories or engage in character assassination.

By taking the matter to court, Sampath Kumar sent a stern warning that the Congress government would no longer tolerate false propaganda. He stated that the lawsuit was a necessary step to protect his dignity and hold the BRS leaders accountable for their “irresponsible” rhetoric. He further cautioned that if the BRS continues to indulge in such misinformation campaigns, they would be forced to face severe legal consequences in the near future.
