AP Weather Alert: Severe Heatwave Forecast for Tomorrow; Temperatures to Hit 44°C

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a stern warning as the state continues to bake under a relentless heatwave. Residents are advised to be extremely cautious on Thursday, with temperatures predicted to soar between 43°C and 44°C in several regions. The state has already turned into a virtual furnace, with 143 mandals recently recording temperatures exceeding 40°C. Rayalapeta in Chittoor district recently clocked the state’s highest temperature at 43.7°C, signaling a dangerous trend for the coming days.

Specific heatwave warnings have been issued for four mandals across the Alluri Sitharama Raju and Polavaram districts for Thursday, with the impact expected to expand to 15 mandals by Friday. Paradoxically, while the plains face scorching heat, the Disaster Management Authority has also predicted isolated rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in parts of the Rayalaseema region due to the influence of a low-pressure system. This “fire and rain” combination necessitates heightened vigilance across the state.

To combat the risk of sunstroke and dehydration, authorities have urged citizens to stay indoors between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM unless absolutely necessary. Those who must venture out are advised to use umbrellas, wear caps, and opt for light cotton clothing. Health officials emphasize the importance of hydration, recommending the frequent consumption of buttermilk, coconut water, and lemon juice. The public is warned not to ignore signs of heat exhaustion and to seek immediate medical attention if they feel dizzy or nauseous.
