The extensive search operations for a two-year-old toddler, Gnaneswari (alias Janu), who vanished a week ago from the Tuni constituency in Kakinada district, have yielded no results, causing deep distress. In an innovative attempt to trace the little girl in a dense forest, the local police attached a high-tech GPS tracker to her pet dog that had accompanied her. However, this novel experiment completely failed on the ground, leaving both the agonizing parents and the police department profoundly worried with absolutely no clues in hand.
The baffling incident took place near CH Agraharam within the Dondavaka panchayat limits of Tuni Mandal. A couple, Ganesh and Bhavani, work as caretakers of a massive 50-acre palm oil plantation and reside in a small house on the property with their daughter. Last Saturday, young Janu was playing with her pet dog when she suddenly wandered off into the adjacent, thick forest area. Upon realizing her absence, the frantic parents searched the surroundings but filed a police complaint after failing to find her.
Given the toddler’s vulnerable age, hundreds of civil police personnel and special party forces were deployed to comb through the dense forest, which is known for thick bushes and wild animal movements. The search teams even utilized drone cameras to scan the area from above. When the pet dog returned home alone a few days ago, the police hoped it knew the child’s whereabouts and fitted it with a GPS tracker, hoping it would lead them back to her. Unfortunately, the dog refused to venture back into the woods and merely roamed around the house, failing the experiment. As the agonizing wait hits the seven-day mark, villagers are urging the police to change their search methods and investigate all possible suspicious angles.
