In a swift response to the catastrophic earthquake that has upended Venezuela, the Government of India has stepped forward to provide extensive humanitarian assistance to the crisis-hit nation. The Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed two massive C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft laden with approximately 35 tons of emergency relief materials. This critical consignment includes essential life-saving medicines, advanced medical equipment, and daily necessities, alongside a specialized Indian Army Field Hospital Unit to deliver immediate medical attention to the victims on the ground.
Reaffirming India’s ethos of global service during international crises, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar expressed solidarity with the affected nation through an official social media post. He stated that India remains fully committed to supporting the people of Venezuela during these incredibly challenging times. This timely assistance underscores India’s proactive role as a reliable global first responder, ensuring that critical resource gaps are bridged when natural disasters strike.
The 35 tons of medical and dietary aid are expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing local relief operations following the devastating tremors, which reports indicate have claimed over 235 lives and left 4,300 people injured. With emergency teams still working to pull survivors from the debris, India’s immediate mobilization of medical infrastructure has garnered widespread international appreciation. This comprehensive relief mission serves as a vital lifeline for thousands of displaced citizens who have lost their homes and livelihoods to the disaster.
