Gen Z Movement Challenged Authoritarianism, Says Aishe Ghosh

Former JNUSU president and SFI national joint secretary Aishe Ghosh said the nationwide Gen Z movement had challenged authoritarianism and demonstrated the power of young people in a democracy. Speaking at a seminar organised by SFI at MBVK in Vijayawada on Thursday, she thanked students across the country for participating in the movement.

Ghosh claimed that 96,000 schools had been closed across the country over the past seven years and alleged that the National Education Policy-2020 was weakening the education system. She said the Gen Z movement had also inspired Gen Alpha students to raise their voices on issues affecting them. Former MLC KS Lakshmana Rao said various movements had encouraged people to question injustice and added that Andhra Pradesh’s education system was facing serious challenges.

The seminar was presided over by SFI State secretary Prasanna Kumar. The programme began with the release of the book Silence Was Broken, followed by discussions on the Gen Z movement and its impact.
