Bank customers should take note of the holiday schedule for September 2026, as bank branches across several states and cities will remain closed on certain days due to festivals and regional holidays. However, bank holidays are not uniform across the country. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, the dates can vary depending on the state and city.
Customers who have important banking work that requires a visit to a branch are advised to check the holiday schedule for their respective location in advance. Planning transactions and other branch-related services accordingly can help avoid inconvenience, especially during festival periods when regional holidays are more frequent.
Apart from state-specific festivals and holidays, banks also remain closed on regular weekly holidays. These include all Sundays, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Customers can continue to use digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs on most bank holidays, subject to service availability.
