A 29-year-old female physiotherapist, identified as Bathini Anitha, tragically ended her life on Saturday at her residence in Saibaba Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Suraram Police Station. Anitha, who was unmarried, worked at Shine Hospital in LB Nagar. The incident came to light when neighbors grew concerned as she did not emerge from her room for a long time; upon breaking open the door, police found her body hanging from a ceiling fan.
The Suraram police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father and have launched an investigation into the matter. While the exact reasons for her drastic step remain unknown, authorities are looking into various angles, including potential workplace stress, personal issues, or mental health struggles. Her body has been shifted to a local government hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine further details.
This incident adds to a concerning trend of suicides and suspicious deaths among medical professionals across the country. Recently, the death of M. Deepika, a PG student at Siddhartha Government Medical College in Vijayawada, sparked significant concern, leading to an inquiry ordered by AP Health Minister Satyakumar. These recurring tragedies highlight the urgent need for better mental health support and stress management resources within the medical fraternity.
