In a recent interview, actress and director Renu Desai opened up about her journey of raising her children, Akira Nandan and Aadya, as a single mother. She emotionally revealed that she never resorted to physical punishment, despite facing doubts and criticism from her ex-husband Pawan Kalyan’s family members. They often warned her that Akira would grow up to be undisciplined if she didn’t hit him. However, Renu firmly believed in raising her children with love and patience, trusting her own parenting methods over harsh disciplinary actions.
Despite the separation, Renu never stopped her children from bonding with their father’s side of the family and attending their special events. However, she set a strict condition before sending them to the ‘Mega’ family’s house. She advised Akira and Aadya that their behavior, words, and reactions would directly reflect on her as a mother. She strictly instructed them never to disrespect anyone, even if they felt angry or irritated, and to call her instead. Her main priority was to ensure that no one could ever point fingers at her upbringing or find flaws in her children’s manners.
Proving her critics wrong, Renu proudly stated that both her children have grown into incredibly disciplined and humble individuals. She recalled challenging her ex-husband’s family to “wait and watch” how she would raise them when they questioned her methods. Today, she confidently expresses that it is hard to find someone as sweet, grounded, and well-behaved as Akira, and Aadya shares the exact same polite traits.
