Uber to Expand Significantly in Telangana: CEO Dara Khosrowshahi Discusses Key Projects with CM Revanth Reddy

Uber is set to majorly scale up its operations in Telangana following a high-level meeting between CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday. During the discussion held at the CM’s residence in Jubilee Hills, the ride-hailing giant announced its decision to expand its Hyderabad-based Center of Excellence (CoE). Notably, this facility was Uber’s first CoE established outside the United States and currently employs 600 engineers, a number the company plans to increase substantially to support its global technological needs.

A key highlight of the meeting was the Chief Minister’s suggestion for Uber to venture into the parking management sector. Addressing the growing urban congestion, CM Revanth Reddy urged Uber to explore the development of multi-level parking facilities integrated with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, particularly near Hyderabad’s metro stations. Uber’s leadership team responded positively to the proposal, promising a comprehensive feasibility study to evaluate how their technology can help solve parking challenges and streamline urban mobility.

Furthermore, Uber expressed a keen interest in the state’s ambitious 30,000-acre “Bharat Future City” project. Khosrowshahi indicated that the company is considering setting up a corporate office within this new hub, which is designed to attract global tech leaders. The meeting, attended by top executives including Uber India President Prabhjeet Singh and CTO Praveen Nippatlapalli Naga, concluded with a mutual agreement to collaborate on mobility and infrastructure. While specific timelines for the parking projects and the new office were not finalized, both parties committed to a long-term strategic partnership for the state’s development.
