Iran’s Missile Attack on Kuwait Airport: One Indian Killed, 63 Others Severely Injured

Tensions in the Gulf region have escalated drastically following a devastating drone and missile attack launched by Iran on the Kuwait International Airport. According to Kuwaiti authorities, the assault took place in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in the tragic death of an Indian national and leaving 63 others severely injured. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait confirmed the citizen’s demise via their official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that they are actively coordinating with local officials to provide all possible assistance to the grieving family.

The attack primarily targeted Terminal 1 of the airport, causing catastrophic infrastructural damage. In the immediate aftermath, all flight operations were completely suspended, and 25 ambulances rushed to the scene to carry out emergency rescue operations. Health department officials reported that many of the injured sustained critical head traumas and severe limb injuries, with at least seven individuals undergoing immediate emergency surgeries. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation, denouncing the attack on its civilian and critical infrastructure.

This strike comes as part of a series of retaliatory measures by Iran against Gulf nations perceived to be cooperating with the United States. While Kuwait International Airport has faced threats in the past, this marks the first time an attack has resulted in casualties. Following the incident, all incoming and outgoing flights have been cancelled until June 4. Major airlines, including IndiGo, have issued urgent travel advisories to passengers, urging them to check their flight status before heading out.
