Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has strongly reacted to the controversial statements being made by some Telangana political leaders regarding AP Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. Naidu emphasized that restricting any leader from traveling or expressing their views is completely unacceptable in a democratic setup. Pointing out that 12 years have passed since the bifurcation of the state, he urged politicians from both sides not to stoke old regional sentiments or disturb the peaceful atmosphere.
To support his argument, Chandrababu Naidu cited examples of cross-state political campaigns, noting that he had previously gone to Tamil Nadu to campaign for elections alongside other national figures, including Karnataka’s D.K. Shivakumar. He also reminded critics that the BRS had recently declared itself a national party and even set up a political unit in Andhra Pradesh. He stated that in an era where Telugu people are getting elected as Senators across the world based on their good work, trying to bar a leader from entering a neighboring state sets a very poor precedent.
The Chief Minister advised political leaders to engage in healthy competition focused on providing better governance and public service rather than indulging in divisive rhetoric. He asserted that the politically conscious people of Telangana are fully aware of who contributed what to the region’s growth and development over the years. This reaction from Naidu comes after Pawan Kalyan’s “jagir” remarks triggered a massive political storm in Telangana, drawing sharp counter-attacks from prominent local leaders like BRS working president KTR and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
