Nurse Found Dead Inside Hospital Toilet in Kolkata, Police Launch Investigation

A 30-year-old nurse, identified as Rupali Barman, was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside a toilet at Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday night. The toilet door remained locked for several minutes, and there was no response from inside. Hospital staff eventually broke open the door and found Rupali unconscious on the floor. She was taken for medical attention, but doctors could not save her. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, while the exact cause of death remains unclear.

According to the preliminary police investigation, Rupali was on duty in the High Dependency Unit of the gynecology department. She started her shift at around 8 pm and had reportedly attended to a patient before going to the HDU toilet. Police said she entered the toilet at approximately 10:20 pm. When she did not return after several minutes, her colleagues called out to her around 10:27 pm, but received no response.

Concerned colleagues then forced the toilet door open and found Rupali lying unconscious on the floor. They immediately placed her on a trolley and rushed her for medical assistance. However, she reportedly died before doctors could provide further treatment. Kolkata Police have launched an investigation to determine what happened inside the toilet and establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
