Archers from Cherukuri Volga Archery Academy in Vijayawada delivered an impressive performance at the Amaravati Championship, a State-level competition being held in Tirupati by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP). Representing NTR district, the academy’s archers won gold, silver and bronze medals across various categories.
Cherukuri Dolly Shivani won gold in the Under-17 girls’ Recurve event, while Akula Sri Krishna Asthik secured silver in the boys’ category. In the Under-23 Compound events, B Priya Vaishnavi and P Trinath Chowdary won gold medals in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively.
The medal winners will be honoured on August 29 during National Sports Day celebrations in Tirupati, marking the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. Andhra Pradesh Archery Association chairman Cherukuri Satyanarayana and other office-bearers congratulated the archers and wished them success in future competitions.
