Ahmedabad’s Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) seized cosmetics and related materials worth more than Rs 2.68 lakh from a firm in the Tragad area after allegedly finding that products were manufactured and repackaged without the required licence and quality testing. The action followed confidential information received by the department.
An FDCA team conducted a surprise inspection at Aanki Herbal on August 25 and reportedly found cosmetics being manufactured and repackaged from bulk packs without the necessary approvals. Officials seized fairness cream, dark-circle cream, shampoo, hair oil, body wash, face wash, scrub, solid perfume and glycerine-based soap.
The seized material also included raw materials, packing materials and printed labels, taking the total value above Rs 2.68 lakh. During the investigation, officials found that the bulk material used by the firm was allegedly purchased from Ravi Marketing in Ahmedabad’s Odhav area.
