Kavitha Warns of Mass Protests: “Will Not Tolerate Suppressing Telangana’s Voice”

Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha issued a stern warning to the Central Government on Thursday, stating that the people of Telangana would take to the streets if any attempt were made to diminish the state’s political voice. Responding to the Delimitation Bill and Women’s Reservation Bill introduced in the special session of Parliament, she emphasized that there would be no compromise when it comes to the interests and representation of the state. She asserted that the pride and identity of Telangana must be protected at all costs during the proposed restructuring of parliamentary constituencies.

Kavitha demanded that Telangana’s current 3.13% representation in Parliament be treated as a baseline, ensuring that this percentage does not decrease after the redrawing of boundaries. She expressed deep concern that Southern states, which have successfully implemented population control and achieved significant developmental milestones, are effectively being “punished” under the guise of delimitation. According to Kavitha, if constituency numbers are increased in a way that reduces the relative representation of Southern states compared to others, it will lead to severe regional imbalances and undermine democratic principles.

Furthermore, Kavitha voiced her dissatisfaction with the government’s decision to link the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill with the delimitation process. She argued for a more inclusive approach, suggesting that the 33% quota should include specific sub-reservations for OBC women to ensure true social justice. Declaring that the BRS and Telangana Jagruthi are ready for a long-term battle, she stated that any move to harm Telangana’s self-respect would be met with intense protests stretching from the local streets of Hyderabad all the way to the halls of Parliament.
